Hello!

The majority of people do the right thing...most of the time

Q. Why?
    A. The Basis of Step4ward's Framework

Step4ward is dedicated to promoting success for Adults, Children and Young People, using a unique framework rooted in Restorative Practices, developed by practioners working across Children's Services in Kingston Upon Hull, England

Step4ward's success to date, working with Children and Young people's Services across the North of England, has led to significant improvements in behaviour and attitudes; resulting in safer schools and communities. Step4ward's programmes enable children and young people, teachers and partner services, parents and carers to adopt strategies that enhance personal well-being and appropriate behaviours, leading to young people who are confident and certain that they are in control of their goals.

The framework will help to:

  • Improve behaviour and attitudes; provide explicit tools within a defined framework to challenge unacceptable behaviour, resolve conflict and repair harm
  • Improve relationships; establish rights, accountabilities and responsibility to a community
  • Ensure stakeholders understand and acknowledge what works and, critically, create and share explicit practices to improve behaviour and attitudes
  • Affirm good practice already happening
  • Provide a safe philosophical basis for staff, students and parents to share ideas, discuss issues and reaffirm what works

Step4ward is currently building a Restorative Community in Kingston Upon Hull where currently over 2,000 Children and Young People's Services staff have received Framework Training, in addition to the Police and Voluntary sector workers
